Solicitor's Permit

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - As a precautionary measure due to the COVID-19 coronavirus and to maintain the health and safety of all, the Sheriff’s Office will offer fingerprinting services by appointment only beginning August 18, 2020.   Appointments are available each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Please call 804-365-6110, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM to schedule an appointment.  

Also, effective Monday, November 16, 2020, the Sheriff's Office will no longer be issuing solicitor permits in-person.  Please call 804-365-6110, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with any questions.  Thank you. 

Solicitors in Hanover County must have a permit to go door to door or location to location to sell any goods or services or accept subscriptions or orders. Fingerprints and a photo will be taken before a permit is issued. There is a $20 fee. Please see detailed information on how to get a permit and the required application (PDF).

Organizations that require multiple solicitor permits for employees are requested to contact 804-365-6110 to make an appointment and limit each appointment to 3 employees.
