HCSO Stuffed Animal Program

There are times when deputies respond to calls for service when they encounter children who are scared, confused, or have been caught in the midst of a traumatic incident.  Often times a new stuffed animal can provide the comfort they need until the situation can be resolved or a family member arrives.  The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has been distributing stuffed animals to children in need for many years.  We are grateful for the many citizens and community organizations who have participated in this program through their generous donations of new stuffed animals.

Stuffed Animals 2022

If your community group or organization would like to donate to this program, the following guidelines have been established:

  • All stuffed animals must be new and in their original packaging.  We do not accept used items even if they are gently used.  The items should be no longer than 12 inches.
  • Please place each stuffed animal in a clear, zipper-style plastic bag or in a clear, sealed package that keeps the toy from getting soiled while in the trunks of deputies’ vehicles.

Please contact Mrs. Samantha Schwartz at 804-365-6825 before planning any collection events or if you need more information.  We can let you know if we are in need of stuffed animals and where you can drop them off.  Thank you for partnering with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
