Hanover, VA – Yesterday, August 24, 2017, five of the Sheriff’s Office’s newest reserve recruits graduated from the Hanover County Criminal Justice Academy at a ceremony held at the Hanover County Administration Building.

The five graduates will enter into their final phase of their training as reserve deputies where they will be required to complete additional field training with a certified field training officer.
Over the past 11 months, each graduate successfully completed over 820 hours of instruction. In addition, the recruits were tested on over 1300 training objectives established by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. The reserve recruits attended the academy every Tuesday and Thursday evening, as well as every other Saturday to fulfill their required training through DCJS.
