Hanover, VA – On Monday, September 4, 2017, deputies responded to the 8000 block of Creekside Village Drive in Mechanicsville for a reported suspicious situation of a vehicle driving recklessly in the neighborhood and numerous individuals looking through parked vehicles.
Once units were on scene, they located the vehicle in question, abandoned. Deputies were able to determine the vehicle was stolen from the Pebble Creek subdivision. While deputies were canvassing the neighborhood, they received a report of another suspicious vehicle in the area of Mechanicsville Turnpike and Creighton Parkway.
The reported suspicious vehicle fled the scene but was soon located in the City of Richmond. This vehicle was determined to also have been stolen from the Pebble Creek subdivision.
The Sheriff’s Office requests that any citizens with exterior security cameras who live in the area where these crimes were committed, please check their footage and contact the Sheriff’s Office if anything suspicious is noticed. Also, if you were a victim of a larceny from a vehicle, please report it to the Sheriff’s Office immediately.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office urges everyone in the strongest possible terms to remove your keys, lock your vehicle(s) and to remove all valuables any time your vehicle is unattended. The Sheriff’s Office also requests that if suspicious activity is observed, please contact the Hanover County Emergency Communications Center immediately. This is a crime of opportunity and by simply locking your vehicles and removing all valuables, you greatly reduce your chances of being victimized.
