Hanover, VA- The date for National Night Out is Tuesday August 6, 2019. National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. The goal is to heighten crime prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors even better.
In 2018, Hanover County ranked 1st in Virginia and 11th in the nation (for communities of a similar size) for registered communities participation in the National Night Out campaign. Another excellent example of the partnership between the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and the community we serve.
The Sheriff’s Office will have officers throughout Hanover County participating in community National Night Out events. THIS YEAR’S KICK-OFF EVENT WILL BE AT THE KINGS CHARTER LAKEVIEW RECREATION CENTER LOCATED AT 9173 KINGS CHARTER DRIVE IN MECHANICSVILLE. The event runs from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. There will be activities for children and something for the entire family to enjoy. Booths will be set up from Hanover Cares, Chickahominy Health District, Virginia 529 and Hanover Youth Services. On display will be vehicles and equipment from the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, Animal Control and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Also joining us will be the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs with the Mobile Vet Center.
