The deceased driver of the Range Rover has been identified as, Demond L. Pleasant (46) of Henrico County. The cause of death will be determined at a later date by the Medical Examiner’s Office/Division of Forensic Science. Deputies are still collecting information to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident. Any charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation. We extend our sincerest condolences to the family during this difficult time.

On Sunday, August 23, at 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to a two vehicle crash in the 7100 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike-Westbound near the intersection of Old Hickory Drive. Upon arrival, both vehicles were overturned. It was determined a 2019 Honda SUV, operated by a 71 year old female with two juvenile occupants, was traveling west on Mechanicsville Turnpike. The Honda ran off right the side of the highway and struck a culvert. The Honda went airborne and struck a 2004 Range Rover operated by a 46 year old male with one juvenile occupant. The Range Rover was stationary at the exit of a restaurant parking lot. Both vehicles overturned as the result of the collision. The driver of the Range Rover was pronounced deceased at the scene. The surviving occupant of the Range Rover along with the three occupants of the Honda were transported by EMS to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Identities of those involved are being withheld pending notification to the families.
