Hanover, Va. – On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 5200 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for a two vehicle crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Acura sedan was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Mechanicsville Turnpike when it collided head-on into a 2008 Nissan sport utility vehicle.
The driver of the 2009 Acura, Jane Vaughan, 27, of Mechanicsville, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both the adult driver and passenger in the 2008 Nissan sport utility vehicle were transported to VCU Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators are still collecting information to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
