Update: The driver of the 2001 Honda Civic has been identified as Charles L. Germon, 31, of Beaverdam, Virginia. We send our sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Charles Germon.
Hanover, Va. – On September 29, 2015, at approximately 6:53 a.m. the Hanover Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal accident involving two vehicles in the area of Washington Highway (Rt. 1) and Cross Corner Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2006 Volvo Cross Country was traveling north on Washington Highway and a silver 2001 Honda Civic was traveling south on Washington Highway. The Volvo Cross Country crossed the center line into the southbound lanes of Washington Highway. As the Volvo Cross Country was swerving back toward the northbound lanes, it collided with the Honda Civic head-on in the southbound lane.
The driver of the 2001 Honda Civic was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the deceased is not being released until the next-of-kin can be notified.
The driver of the 2006 Volvo was transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still collecting information in order to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic accident.
