Hanover, Va. – On October 30, 2023, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a vandalism to the Mechanicsville High School football field, which included a swastika among various words, phrases or symbols that were spray painted on the grass.  

Much of what was painted lacked any discernible meaning or relevance and nothing else was antisemitic in nature.  

Currently, our investigation is pending, and we are working diligently with Hanover County Public Schools and the administration of Mechanicsville High School to attempt to identify those responsible for this disgraceful act.  We are fully committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is requesting any information that could assist us in identifying a suspect in this investigation.
