Fatal Crash Investigation
Hanover, Va. – On Friday, May 20, 2022, at approximately 11:53 a.m., deputies responded to Mountain Road (Route 33) near the Ground Squirrel Bridge for a single vehicle crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Ford Focus was traveling westbound on Mountain Road when the vehicle ran off the right shoulder of the roadway and collided head on into a tree.
The driver and sole occupant of the 2007 Ford Focus, Ernest Alfred Wright, Sr., 83, Montpelier, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There were no other vehicles involved in this crash.
Investigators are still collecting information.
